Everything we raise goes to Oesophagoose, the oesophago-gastric cancer fund of the Northern Oesophago-Gastric Unit at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, under Newcastle Hospitals Charity, registered charity number 1057213. It is the unit that cared for our Judy.
Oesophagoose is the unit’s awareness campaign, started by one of its own cancer nurse specialists. The fund pays for the unit’s research, for the awareness work that finds this cancer sooner, and for the things that make treatment easier to bear.
Oesophageal cancer is very often found late, because the early signs look like heartburn. Finding it sooner is the point at which the outcome can change. That is what the silent auction on the night, and the thirty painted butterflies of Bountiful Butterflies, are paying for. Bid generously. Judy would have.

The auction is only as good as its lots.

The butterfly auction has a home of its own. Thirty wooden butterflies have gone out to artists and public figures to paint and sign. They come back framed and are sold on the night, and you can see every lot and bid online before the ball at bountifulbutterflies.com.
